About Us
The Department was established to promote Mathematics education and research in the country. It is our constant endeavor to conduct fundamental research in mathematics, and to train students by providing them a broad and solid foundation in Mathematics. We strive to give a balanced training to students, and prepare them for pursuing a research career in mathematics, as well as for a non-academic employment after graduation.
Despite being a fairly young Department, the Department of Mathematics has twenty faculty members representing a diverse range of research areas in pure mathematics. The Department will strive to strengthen the areas already represented in the Department and also to diversify into newer areas such as applied mathematics and statistics.
The Department has an active post-doctoral programme which attracts graduates from premier research institute across the country. We also organize several workshops and conferences aimed at promoting mathematics education and collaborative research.
